Raymond Briggs made a contribution to the spectacular London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony (held on 27th July).  Projected onto the sides of a house in the centre of the Olympic Stadium were short clips from a number of classic British film and TV programmes. These were all chosen by the director of the ceremony, film maker Danny Boyle, to represent the best of  Britain’s TV and film heritage. Among the clips chosen was the flying sequence from Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman which showed up as Annie Lennox was singing “Sweet Dreams” on the soundtrack.
