Ethel and Ernest wins the Jury Prize at South Korean festival

Last night the Bucheon International Animated Film Festival awarded Ethel and Ernest the Jury Prize in the feature film category.

The Jury was:

Jin Kim– a well-known character designer creating characters such as Rapunzel in Tangled(2010), Anna and Elsa in Frozen(2013), Hiro in Big Hero 6(2014) and Moana in Moana(2016). He worked as an animator at Walt Disney Animation Studios from 1995. He is also the first Korean Animator to be working for Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Sébastien Laudenbach – His first feature debut, The Girl without Hands screened at Cannes ACID and won BIAF2016 Grand Prize as well as Jury distinction Prize at Annecy.

Doris Cleven –  Director of Brussels Animation Festival ANIMA. Belgium. She also writes articles on animation film and lectures History of Animation at various high schools of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels.

Koboyashi Osamu – directed many famous animated films such as Paradise Kiss, BECK, Gurren Lagann, Lupine the Third and Naruto Shippuden. He is regarded as an irreplaceable outstanding individual in the Japanese animation industry.

 

Ethel and Ernest nominated for European Film Award 2017

The European Film Awards have announced today that Ethel and Ernest is one of four films nominated in the category of European Animated Feature Film.

The 30th European Film Awards will be held in Berlin on the 9th December.

The nominations for the category ANIMATED FEATURE FILM were determined by a committee comprised of EFA Board Deputy Chairman Antonio Saura (Spain), EFA Board Member Ira von Gienanth (Germany), EFA Member Anja Šošić (Poland), as well as CARTOON representatives Christian Davin (France), Moe Honan (Ireland) and Alessandro Rak (Italy).

The nominated films will now be submitted to the more than 3000 EFA Members to elect the winner.

Ethel and Ernest wins Best Feature Animation Prize at Argentinian festival ANIMA2017

I have the pleasure to inform you that your film ETHEL & ERNEST has been awarded the Best Feature Animation Prize at the ANIMA2017, IX Córdoba International Animation Festival. Congratulations!
The Jurors (Carmen Garzón, Rodrigo Guerrero and Ximena Triquell) emphasized “… The simplicity of the story and the characterization of fond characters who, through small gestures, let us glimpse the conflicts of the British society from the decades that it describes.”
